nestled in the beautiful mountain top village of Mijas Pueblo which is famous for its donkeys, our chocolate factory has been making chocolate since 2012
Our chocolate is made without any palm fats or other cheap cacao butter substitutes. Our single origin dark chocolate uses just two ingredients - cacao beans and cane sugar.
We bake fresh cakes every single day. We have a wide range of gluten free products too.
Rather than me just write about them here, come up and ask for a taster!.
We buy beautiful organic milk from Galicia. It costs over 1 euro a litre as opposed to standard milk which costs approx 45 cents, but my goodness, its good.
Callum is the Mayan Monkey Mijas's very own Dr Who. An eccentric intellectual who far prefers to have his head in a book than facebook. We've never seen someone as enthuastic ever. Callum in a previous job worked as a sales trainer providing tips to Steve Jobs on how to improve his presentations.
Lidia has bounds of energy and packages chocolate faster than I can type. And thats pretty damn fast. She's a damn site more accurate too.
If its chocolate, Ines simply knows how to make it. Be it grinding a batch of criollo beans or making the most delicious passion fruit bonbons, she gets the job done.
Kerte is one of the few people in the company brave enough to tell me off if I dare walk into the factory without a hairnet on my head. She takes no prisoners and the smooth running and organisation of the packaging department certainly benefits from her presence.
When SKY TV need an opinion about the Brexit, who do they consult? When anything breaks in the factory, who gets it fixed? Every company needs a practical, handy, hands on, organised person behind it, and thats clearly not Jason. We're not sure exactly what he does, but it generally involves chatting with visitors to Mijas and restoring antique cacao Machines.
Organised, methodical, hard working, and a superb linguist, Eli can regularly be found blathering away in seven languages. She's adept at product design, graphics and keeping Jason under control! Mainly found behind the scenes, she ensures everything stays stuck together the way it´s meant to and that everyone is happy (salaries, timetables and all that jazz). Her juice is finding, creating and communicating meaning, and one of her heroes is the wonderful Tao Porchon-Lynch, who at 98 years of age is the oldest yoga teacher in the world.
